iMatrix 221 (6 X 175ug)
| Cat. No.: | FNK-892062 | |
| Size: | 6 X 175ug | |
| Description: | iMatrix-221 is a recombinant human laminin-221 E8 fragment protein expressed in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO)-S cells. iMatrix-221 contains the integrin-binding site of the laminin-221 molecule. iMatrix-221 is a useful cell culture substrate for proliferation and differentiation of cardiomyocytes and skeletal muscule cells. iMatrix-221 is also useful for the culture of other cells adhering to laminin-221.![]() |
|
| Content: | Recombinant human laminin-221 E8 fragment protein in PBS(-) | |
| Concentration: | 0.5 mg/mL | |
| Amount: | 175 μg / 0.35 mL / tube (1050 μg / 6 tubes) | |
| Storage: | Store at 2°C to 15°C, protect from light. | |
| Expiration date: | The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is printed on the outer carton. | |
| Activity: | The dissociation constant (Kd) for the binding with integrin α7X2β1 is 10 nM or less. | |
| Methods of use: | By the following method, iMatrix-221 can be coated onto a culture vessel. The optimum coating density may differ by cell-type, cell-line, medium selected, or purpose. Insufficient coating density may result in the detachment of cells and varied cell conditions while the excessive coating density may lead to difficulty in detaching cells for passage. Determine the optimal coating density. 0.5 μg/cm2 is a standard but test between 0.1 and 1.5 μg/cm2.
*If you face difficulties in detaching cells for passage, re-adjust the conditions (e.g., reduce the coating density).

The Biology behind the Technology

Laminins are an essential component of the extracellular matrix and make up a large portion of the basement membrane. They support and regulate cell growth, motility and differentiation. Laminins are trimeric proteins made up of a, /3 and y chains and the nomenclature of the different isoforms is based on the type of chain that it contains.
Of note, lamimin 511 is expressed during embryogenesis and research by Professor Kiyotoshi Sekiguchi at Osaka University in Japan has unveiled that the cellular adhesion site is located in what is named the E8 region. Through his work, it was also found that the laminin E8 fragment provided superior performance as a substrate compared to full-length laminin.

A series of recombinant human laminins as various cell culture substrate.
Laminin is one of the extra cellular matrixes (ECM) located in the basement membrane of animals, and play an important role for cell adhesion and proliferation. Laminin is composed of three parts ; alpha, beta, and gamma chain, and 15 types of laminin has been already known.

iMatrix 221: For cardiomyocytes or skeletal muscule cells culture
iMatrix 221 is a useful cell culture substrate for proliferation and differentiation of cardiomyocytes and skeletal muscule cells. This is a recombinant human laminin 221 E8 fragment protein which contains the integrin binding site of the laminin 221 molecule.
