Lithium Assay kit LS - Polyfluoroporphyrin method

Cat. No.: FNK-LI01ME

Storage:       4°C

Features

  • Polyfluoroporphyrin reacts with Li in serum and develops a vivid color. In addition, even after 30 minutes of color development, the absorbance of both high and low concentration lithium samples remains constant, resulting in excellent stability.
  • Measurable with conventional microplate readers, as 96 well plate reader.
  • 1-point calibration
  • Sample type: serum, plasma (*Do not use heparin lithium blood collection tubes.)
  • Assay range: 0.03 - 3.0 mM
  • Assay time: 10 minutes

Description

Metallo Assay Lithium Assay kit LS is intended for the quantitative determination of lithium in serum and plasma sample by 96-well plate reader. This product can perform stable assay under ordinary temperature and atmospheric pressure. Excellent storage stability(even after opening sealed package) gives extended validated date.*Patent number. JP 5100903, JP 5222432. Target: lithium ( Li, Li2CO3 ) Measuring range: 0.03-3.0 Mm Species: all Sample: serum, plasma Apparatus: UV/Vis 96-well reader or spectrophotometer Wavelength: 550 nm (540-560 nm) Procedure: 10 min

Significance of Lithium Determination

Lithium is associated with the release and suppression of serotonin, dopamine, and adrenaline in neurons, and is known to increase white blood cells, decrease blood pressure, and affect reproduction.
In the field of pharmacotherapy, lithium carbonate is frequently used as a lithium donor as a first-line or second-line drug in the treatment of bipolar disorder. However, excessive doses of lithium have been associated with kidney damage and other serious side effects, and medication management is important.
Recently, the effects of lithium on diseases related to oxidative stress in addition to mood stabilization have been reported one after another, and research on the effects of lithium on other diseases is being reconsidered.

Assay Principle

It observes the color development of the visible part due to chelate complex formation of polyhalogen-substituted porphyrins and lithium ions, and determines the lithium concentration. It is the world's first stable liquid color development kit for microplate readers.
