Application Notes
Benastatin A is isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces sp. MI384-DF12 as an inhibitor of glutathione S-transferase (GST).1,2 The inhibition of benastatin A against GST is competitive with 3,4-dichloronitrobenzene (Ki: 5.0 × 10-6 M), and noncompetitive with glutathione (Ki: 3.5 × 10-6 M). Benastatin A has activity against Gram-positive bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
