Application Notes:
Aplasmomycin A was isolated from culture filtrate of Streptomyces griseus SS-20. Its structure was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis of its Ag-salt.  Aplasmomycin A inhibited the growth of Gram-positive bacteria including mycobacteria and it showed antimalarial activity in mice infected with Plasmodium berghei. Aplasmomycin A specifically inhibited the futalosine pathway of menaquinone biosynthesis.
