Amphotericin B (also referred as Fungizone™) is an antimycotic agent which is effective against fungi and yeasts. Amphotericin B binds with ergosterol and interferes with the cell membrane permeability of sensitive fungi and yeasts. The channels in the cell membrane cause leakage of cytoplasmic content leading to fungal death.
A011 is a sterile solution formulated to contain 250µg Amphotericin B per ml of cell culture grade water.
Directions:
A011 is used at a concentration of 2.5mg/L i.e. 10ml/L along with penicillin and streptomycin. When used alone without penicillin and streptomycin, it is recommended to use A011 at 2-4 times the normal concentration. 20-40ml/L for 2-3 subcultures will effectively eliminate yeasts and fungi. After 2-3 subcultures, the cells can be cultured in normal medium conditions.
Sensitive cell lines may react differently to this product. Hence it is recommended to determine the optimum usage dose empirically for individual cell line.
