Product Description
Agarose gel refers to a gel substance created by melting polysaccharide in hot water, which is the main ingredient of agar that does not include sulfate, and then letting it cool. As it is used for the electrophoresis for high-molecularmass nucleotides, it serves as a medium through which DNA or RNA moves. As it has the excellent ability to fix DNA or RNA, it is effective for separation by molecular mass.
It is a pre-made agarose gel that includes Safe Shine Green. EtBr, which is widely used, is a reagent that registers a strong toxicity known as mutagen and carcinogen. Safe Shine Green, which is a replacement for EtBr, is a non-toxic, non-mutagenic and non-carcinogenic stable fluorescence dye. By comparing EtBr with Safe Shine Green by DNA concentration, one can see that Safe Shine Green is similar to EtBr in sensitivity.
Note
Safe Shine Green registers a maximum fluorescent wavelength of 535㎚ (below), and you can obtain optimum images if you use a fluorescent filter at the same wavelength. However, as the work can be done with a UV filter alone, it can be used without any extra equipment.
