[+] 70% Deantured Ethanol

Ethanol is an organic alcohol with formula C2H5OH used as a laboratory or medical solvent, an antiseptic, and other biomedical research purposes. Sterile 70% ethanol is used in tissue culture hood, sterile pathological works, and clean rooms for antibacterial and sanitization purposes, including solvent for various chemicals. A sterilized 70% ethanol solution is used for sterile cell biology, pathogenic workflows, and FACS cell sorting procedures. This solution is qualified to be used for the purification precipitation and washing of nucleic acids (DNA & RNA) and proteins in a sterile environment and sterile procedures are required.  DiagnoCine offers a variety of customization for Sterile Ethanol formulations that fit your needs and for a range of cell cultures and laboratory applications.'

70% ethanol (derived from absolute anhydrous denatured alcohol) has a pH in the range of 4 to 6.5. This acidic pH is not optimal for biological experiments and should be taken into consideration when planning applications involving sensitive biological systems.

Our DiagnoCine Precision product is formulated to a pH range of 7~7.5 by default. However, if you prefer the standard pH range of approximately 4 to 6.5, please inquire.

Scientific and Biological Purposes of 70% Ethanol at a pH range of 7~7.5
  • Preservation of Biological Samples: Ethanol at 70% concentration is effective for disinfection and fixation because it denatures proteins and disrupts cell membranes, but adjusting the pH between 7~7.5 keeps it near physiological pH, which can help better preserve tissue morphology and biochemical integrity during fixation procedures. This is important in histology and molecular biology where RNA and proteins need to remain intact for analysis.
  • Reduced Chemical Damage: Neutral pH avoids acidic or alkaline conditions that could otherwise cause additional damage or degradation of sensitive biological molecules or tissue structures during the fixation or cleaning process. For example, acidic pHs can significantly alter tissue or cell structure, whereas neutral pH is gentler
  • Enhancement of Compatibility: A neutral pH ethanol solution is less likely to interfere with downstream biological assays, cell compatibility testing, or enzyme-based analyses than more acidic or alkaline ethanol solutions. This improves the biocompatibility of treated materials and samples
  • Effective Disinfection with Physiological Relevance: The 70% ethanol concentration is ideal for antimicrobial activity because it coagulates proteins and penetrates cells more effectively than higher concentrations, while the neutral pH helps maintain the integrity of biological samples undergoing sterilization or cleaning in laboratory settings

Cold storage or sometimes creates cloudiness and bubbles in 70% ethanol:  Please DO NOT WORRY

  • It's dissolved air, not contamination: cold liquid holds more gas, and it comes back out as tiny bubbles when the bottle warms up.
  • Confirms it: the haze clears from the bottom up within 1-2 hours at room temperature, leaves no sediment, and gets worse if you swirl the bottle.
  • No effect on sterility or disinfectant performance.

* All DiagnoCine Precision Sterile filtered-sterilized with 40 nanometer. Thus, mycoplasma contamination is prevented. The smallest size mycoplasma type can be about 0.2 microns.
