  • World’s cleanest reagents for all cell and molecular biology experiments

Description:

10% Neutral Buffered Formalin (NBF) is the gold standard fixative for histopathology laboratories worldwide, offering superior tissue preservation for microscopic examination. This ready-to-use solution contains approximately 4% formaldehyde buffered to a neutral pH, creating the optimal environment for tissue fixation while preventing common artifacts. Our premium formulation ensures consistent, reliable results for both routine diagnostic procedures and advanced research applications.

As a non-coagulant and additive fixative, 10% NBF creates cross-links between aldehydes and tissue proteins, forming a protective gel-like matrix that preserves cellular constituents in their original relationships. This process effectively prevents autolysis and putrefaction while maintaining critical microscopic details. Formaldehyde penetrates tissue rapidly, though the complete fixation process occurs gradually as cross-links form, ensuring thorough preservation throughout the specimen.

Applications:

  • Routine histological tissue fixation in diagnostic settings.
  • Preparation of samples for light microscopy.
  • Immunohistochemistry procedures (with appropriate antigen retrieval).
  • Long-term preservation of museum specimens.
  • Research applications requiring consistent morphological preservation.

Advantages:

  • Excellent preservation of nuclear and cytoplasmic details
  • Compatible with most staining techniques and molecular procedures
  • Suitable for both short-term fixation and long-term storage
  • Well-suited for high-throughput laboratory environments
  • Permits restoration of natural color in museum specimens

Composition:

Ingredients Concentration
 Formaldehyde (40%) 100 mL/L
 Sodium phosphate, monobasic (NaH₂PO₄·H₂O) 4.0 g/L
Sodium phosphate, dibasic (Na₂HPO₄) 6.5 g/L

Usage Instructions:
  1. Ensure specimen containers are properly labeled before fixation.
  2. Place tissue specimens in the fixative solution immediately after collection when possible.
  3. Maintain a fixative-to-tissue ratio of at least 10:1 for optimal results.
  4. For routine histology, fix tissues for 6-24 hours (larger specimens may require longer fixation times).
  5. After fixation, process tissues according to standard laboratory protocols.

CUSTOMIZATION:  Please INQUIRE if other concentrations, additions of chemicals/compounds/proteins/supplements, different pH, and modifications are needed.

All DiagnoCine Precision Sterile buffers are filtered-sterilized with a 0.1-micron filtration two times and 0.04-micron filtration one time. Thus, mycoplasma contamination is prevented.  The smallest size mycoplasma type can be about 0.2 microns.

* This product is manufactured under ISO 13485-certified and CE-approved facilities (Suppliers of DiagnoCine Precision).
